Juvenile Law Conference

The juvenile law conference is an accelerated, focused, and cost-effective 3-day program for law-enforcement personnel and other professionals who work with youth.

Gain a deeper understanding of juvenile justice law, including changes to Wisconsin Statutes. Learn how to develop more effective department policies and procedures and more effectively enforce juvenile law.

The Juvenile Law Conference has trained more than 3,500 law-enforcement officers since 1967. Frank J. Crisafi continues to bring his many years of experience as an attorney in the juvenile justice system to his role as program planner, facilitator, and instructor.

The instructors

Frank J. Crisafi JD is a former chief juvenile prosecutor in Milwaukee County and attorney for the Madison Metropolitan School District. He practiced law in the areas of juvenile justice, special education, confidentiality of pupil records and school discipline. He currently teaches seminars in the areas of juvenile justice administration and school law for social workers and law enforcement officers throughout the State of Wisconsin.

Lindsey Draper is a former court commissioner for Milwaukee County and a former assistant district attorney with Milwaukee County Children's Court. He currently works in the office of Justice Assistance as the Disproportionate Minority Contact Coordinator.

Vic Karaliunas is a former Waukesha County intake worker.

Dave Perlman is an assistant attorney general with the Wisconsin Department of Justice.

Eric Szatkowski is one of the nation's top officers investigating internet sexual predators. He has been a Special Agent with the Wisconsin Department of Justice/Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) for approximately 20 years. Currently, he is assigned to the state's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in Milwaukee.

Luis Yudice is the coordinator of school security for the Madison Metropolitan School District and a former captain in the Madison Police Department.

Other instructors include staff from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, Division of Juvenile Corrections.

General information

Location: Pyle Center, 702 Langdon Street, Madison, WI.

Registration: Complete and return the registration form (see registration options below). Space is limited, and enrollment is first-come, first-served. When we receive your registration form, we will notify you of your acceptance.

Fee: $375; includes instruction, materials, and coffee/refreshment breaks. Lunch is on your own.

Scholarship: $200 scholarships are available on request. Money for the scholarships is provided through a grant from the Office of Justice Assistance. Contact Susan Paddock, spaddock@wisc.edu, for more information.

Class schedule: Monday-Wednesday, 8:30 am-4 pm

CEUs: 6 hours of contuning education credits will be awarded for each day for a total of 18 hours.

Meals and lodging: You are responsible for all travel, food, lodging, and parking costs, and for making your own lodging reservations.

Deadlines and cancellations: Your registration fee, minus a $50 administrative charge, will be refunded if we receive your cancellation at least one week before the Institute begins. If unable to attend, you may send a substitute; please notify us as early as possible of any attendance changes.
