Professional Development and Applied Studies Quality continuing education for professional lives.
Continuing education is one of the best tools you have for recharging your batteries...for growing as professionals and citizens in a changing world. This department is a leader in providing professional continuing education programs for adults. Over 400 programs annually including workshops, conferences, classes, and distance education, are designed to teach you the skills and knowledge you need in your professional life. In addition, our faculty and staff provide consultation and conduct applied research.

The Wisconsin Certified Public Manager (WCPM) is a nationally accredited professional development program for public managers that offers training and consultation services for government agencies and employees and challenges of the public management profession. Individual CPM classes are open to all public managers; you need not be a candidate in the certificate program to attend.
For personal enrichment -- The Department of Liberal Studies and the Arts provides the highest quality education opportunities for lifelong learners. In addition to Madison area classes and workshops you will find national conferences, seminars, independent study, educational travel tours, workshops for professionals, and consulting services.
The Department of Professional Development & Applied Studies is a part of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Continuing Studies. The units within Continuing Studies provide continuing education programs for lifelong learners, from precollege to seniors, as well as counseling services for adult learners.
