This proven workshop is now two days to allow more in-depth discussion on treatment approaches and problematic cases from the audience.

Treating clients with personality disorders can be both complex and challenging. Accurate diagnoses and research-based treatment strategies significantly improve your client outcomes. Excellent instruction and valuable content make this program an excellent way to earn your continuing education credits as well as to make significant differences in the lives of your clients.

This two-day program presents an overview of what personality is, the various personality disorders, and transference issues. Learn about the dramatic cluster (Borderline, Histrionic, Narcissistic, Antisocial), the anxious cluster (Obsessive-compulsive, Avoidant, Dependent,) and the eccentric cluster (Paranoid, Schizoid, Schizotypal). The most recent scientific data regarding demographics, etiology, and natural history is presented.

Your instructor

David MaysDavid Mays, MD, PhD, is a forensic psychiatrist who directed the forensic program at the Mendota Mental Health Institute in Madison for 13 years. He served as the unit psychiatrist for the Management and Treatment Unit, a 14-bed maximum security unit for the most challenging and violent mental health clients in Wisconsin. He currently provides training and consultation throughout Wisconsin and is on the clinical faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Madison He is the recipient of the Exemplary Psychiatrist Award from the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, and the Exceptional Performance Award from the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services. Dr. Mays is a seasoned clinician and highly sought-after presenter.  His seminars are consistently rated as excellent learning experiences by participants.

General information

Time: 9 am-4 pm each day; registration is 8:30-9 am on the first day.

Fee: $225 includes materials, refreshment breaks, CEU's and a non-refundable administrative fee of $20.

Cancellation policy: If you are unable to attend or arrange for a substitute, you may obtain a refund minus the $20 administrative fee by contacting our registration department at least 3 business days prior to the program. If you cancel 3 business days or less before the program, or do not attend, you are responsible for the entire fee. To cancel or arrange for a substitute, please call 800-725-9692.

Credit: Continuing Education Units (CEU) are awarded from the UW-Madison for full participation.
