Continuing education is one of the best tools we have for recharging our batteries...for growing as professionals and citizens in a changing world. Our department — Professional Development and Applied Studies — is a leader in Wisconsin for providing professional continuing education programs for adults. We offer over 400 continuing education programs annually including workshops, conferences, classes, and distance education. In addition, our faculty and staff provide consultation and conduct applied research. Through our award-winning continuing education programs we have reached a wide spectrum of health and human service providers, community leaders and policy makers, professional practitioners, paraprofessionals, volunteers, managers, and the public.

The mission of the Department of Professional Development and Applied
Studies is to fulfill the Wisconsin Idea of
extending the resources of the University to statewide, national and
international audiences by providing excellence in continuing education,
research and public service.
