Mastering Nursing Home Administration

This audio correspondence course is designed as an overview of the field of long-term care administration.

Description:

Newly revised and available on CD or audiocassettes.This course is ideal for professionals in the field of long-term care, especially those wanting to take the NHA licensing exam.

The program consists of 12 hour-long lectures (on either CD or audiocassette), each accompanied by corresponding outlines, assignments and related reading materials. There is no time limit to complete the course so students may work at their own pace. You will mail assignments to Suzanna Castillo, at UW-Madison, where they will be reviewed and mailed back to you with her comments.

When all 12 sets of assignments are successfully completed, you will receive a letter and a certificate of completion from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. We will also send an official letter to the Wisconsin Department of Regulation and Licensing, Nursing Home Examining Board which will make you eligible to take the licensing exam. Prior to finishing the course, you should call the Licensing and Exam Board at 608-266-5511 ext. 11 to request an examination application packet. Students from states other than Wisconsin should check with their state's licensing board to find out if this course will also meet their requirements.

Your instructor:

Suzanna Waters Castillo, MSSW, PhD, is a faculty associate in Professional Development and Applied Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has extensive experience in the field of long-term care and aging, including health policy development, program management and direct service. She also teaches continuing education programs for persons in the field of aging and long-term care, including the Case Management Certificate programs.

General information:

Method: Available on CDs or audiocassettes

Fees: The cost of the complete course is $450 for the written materials with either CDs or audiocassettes. A $50 non-refundable fee will be withheld if you cancel.

Approved hours: You will receive 36 continuing education hours (3.6 CEUs) from UW-Madison for completion of this course, and we will submit your name to the Wisconsin Department of Regulation and Licensing as being eligible to take the Administrator's Licensing Exam.
