Join the University of Wisconsin-Madison for an unparalleled weekend of theater as we attend four of the best new plays on Broadway!
Your weekend on Broadway begins Thursday night with tickets to one of the most anticipated shows in years: Mel Brooks' new musical comedy, "Young Frankenstein!" The creative team and cast of this show have won an extraordinary 27 Tony Awards and garnered 54 Tony nominations for their past work, and this productions is sure to add to those totals.
On Friday morning you'll enjoy a backstage tour of a Broadway theater before enjoying an unscheduled afternoon to do as you please in the city. That evening your weekend on Broadway continues with the play "The Farnsworth Invention." This play, written by the Emmy Award-winning writer/creator of "The West Wing," Aaron Sorkin, is a classic American tale depicting the battle between a young genius and the head of RCA for the patent rights to the revolutionary 20th-century invention: television.
Saturday morning you attend your second educational seminar with a Broadway professional, and then you have the rest of the day free to do as you please until Saturday evening when you rejoin the group for a performance of the hilarious new comedy "November." Written by award winning playwright David Mamet, the play stars the incomparable Nathan Lane as an incumbent U.S. president just days away from his next election.
Sunday morning will be relaxed and unstructured until our final play, a matinee performance of the smash-hit "In the Heights." This salsa-flavored, feel-good musical about immigrant dreamers in New York's Washington Heights neighborhood has moved to Broadway after its thrilling off-Broadway run and is sure to send us home with our toes tapping!
This will be an unforgettable weekend of the best new plays on Broadway. If you love great theater, you won't want to miss our "Weekend on Broadway!"
