Tell a friend about the Wisconsin Wrights New Play Project.
The Wisconsin Wrights New Play Development Project offers an incredible opportunity to Wiscinson playwrights as it focuses on the development of new works through extensive workshops and public readings.
Each of the three finalists will be awarded a one week residency at Edenfred (www.edenfred.org) in Madison, Wisconsin. The three plays will be featured as part of the University Theatre summer season with each receiving an intensive one week workshop (with a cast, dramaturg, and director) which culminates in a public reading. In addition, the Madison Repertory Theatre will select one of the three works for further development through their 2010 Madison New Play Festival, and the Milwaukee Chamber Theatre will select a play for a staged reading in their 2009-2010 season.
Created in Fall 2006 through a partnership between the UW–Madison Division of Continuing Studies in Theatre, the UW–Madison University Theatre/Department of Theatre and Drama, the Madison Repertory Theatre, and Edenfred/Terry Family Foundation, Wisconsin Wrights fosters the development of new works by Wisconsin playwrights. Joining us as a producing partner in Fall 2007 was the Milwaukee Chamber Theatre. The first two years of Wisconsin Wrights were generously supported by the UW–Madison Anonymous Fund and the Dane County Cultural Affairs Commission.
