Computer Classes – SOA 2008
Computer Labs: The School District of Rhinelander is currently running a Windows 2000 operating system with Word, Excel, Publisher, Frontpage, and Access. A computer lab is available during the day for word processing, exploring the internet, accessing email, etc. There will be a Photoshop/Publisher lab available for students who are experienced in these areas, but please be aware that there will be no formal instruction in this lab.
Email Access: If you need to check your email and are not using a web-based email account such as hotmail or MSN, check to see if your local provider offers a way for you to check your email account on the web. Most providers have this option.
Saving your work: Please bring a USB key/flashdrive, a 3.5 floppy disk, or CDs to save any work done in your classes. CD burners are available in the lab.

Photoshop Elements has become a program of choice for many people who are looking for basic and economical solutions to digital photography enhancements. Through a series of in-class assignments, you will learn to crop, change exposures, remove dust and scratches, repair flaws, color balance your images, and experiment with cloning. This entry-level course is for students who have basic computer skills, and little, or no prior knowledge of digital enhancement. All images and reference hand-outs will be provided. Bring a USB key or disc for storing in-class assignments

Nancy Koberle-O'Connell is an award-winning artist with more than 25 years' experience in graphic design. She is currently senior artist in the Division of Continuing Studies at UW-Madison where she works extensively with Photoshop. Her portfolio includes work for American Girl and several Fortune 500 companies.
Basic Website Design using Dreamweaver (D33)

Through a series of in-class assignments, you will learn the basics of how to organize, design, and create a Website from scratch using Dreamweaver. This entry-level course is for students who have basic computer skills, and internet knowledge. Reference hand-outs will be provided. Bring a USB key or disc for storing in-class assignments.

Desktop Publishing with Microsoft Publisher (A4)

Desktop publishing has never been this easy! You will use Microsoft Publisher to create professional looking products, such as calendars, brochures, newsletters, labels and business cards. Come prepared with ideas of what you would like to create and some pictures or graphics. Pictures on disk or CD work best. Materials Fee: $5
Instructor Bio:
Elaine Rumney recently completed her masters in Educational Technology. She teaches at James Williams Middle School in Rhinelander and incorporates technology throughout many of her activities in the classroom fostering a love of learning through technology.
