Student comments

I cannot believe the class is over already.  It has been so great being your student.  The class has enabled me to learn a lot and to continue improving my Spanish.  Thank you for giving me the opportunity to take part in the course.  I will bring what I have learned in this course upon entering into the business world.
~ Dana Perez

The Business Spanish program has been a great opportunity for me to learn the basics of a foreign language. I made a mistake when I did not take a foreign language in college, and this class gives me the opportunity to learn skills to conduct business worldwide.

The Online Business Spanish Certificate Program

Understanding business relationships in Spain and Latin America

The noncredit Online Business Spanish Certificate Program offers a flexible learning opportunity for understanding business relationships in Latin America and Spain. This Spanish language course is focused on learning Spanish specifically in a business context, as well as using appropriate Spanish business etiquette.

Learning how to conduct business in Hispanic countries is helpful to any student or professional interested in the Spanish language and in the various cultures of the Hispanic world. The ability to take the course online allows you to learn despite distance or time constraints. Work at your own pace and take up to a year to finish each course. Students can work independently or closely with the instructor.

The Online Business Spanish Certificate Program has two levels: Basic and Advanced.

Students need to finish successfully Level 2 in order to receive the Certificate. It is possible for students to begin the program at Level 2 with the consent of the instructor.

The Basic Spanish level is designed to present a complete basic review of the Spanish Language. In this level, you will work with common written documents used in business such as letters, résumés, memos, and business cards. We will also explore cultural issues and business-specific vocabularies. The course prerequisite is one year of Spanish or consent of the instructor.

The Advanced Spanish level focuses on oral and written communications in Spanish business situations in the context of the Latino culture. You will learn about methods, customs documentation, financial practices, management, and structures of Spanish corporations. The prerequisites are either the Basic Spanish online course, two years of college Spanish, four years of High School Spanish, or the instructor’s consent.

Program objectives

  • Learn to communicate in Spanish business situations.
  • Become familiar with ways to overcome the cultural barriers sometimes encountered by U.S. business people doing business around the globe.

Costs
