Fees Workshop Enrollment FeesEnrollment fee for the 8-day Workshop (including all concerts) is $475. Full-time college students enrolled in a regular college curriculum may enroll in the Workshop at a discounted enrollment fee of $375 (proof of full-time status must accompany Enrollment Form). A $75 non-refundable deposit is required to secure registration, with the balance due upon arrival. Additional fees include Festival music purchase (TBD), and optional instrument rental, all payable by cash or check upon arrival. Please note that housing fees and optional credit fees are not to be paid at time of enrollment. MEMF offers a limited number of work-study opportunities for college students in exchange for partial enrollment fee. Contact the Program Director for more information.
Work-Study Opportunities
LocationThe Madison Early Music Festival and Workshop are held on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the School of Music located in the Mosse Humanities Building, on the corner of Park Street and University Avenue. Detailed maps will be mailed to all who enroll. More details can be found on the location page. ParkingReserved parking is available near Barnard Hall and the Workshop site on a first-come-first-served basis at $68 for the week (Sat–Sat). Parking permits must be reserved in advance (see the Enrollment Form) by June 30. Hourly parking is also available, but not for overnight parking.
HousingCampus dormitory housing is available on campus in the new Ogg Hall, located two blocks from the Workshop site. Ogg Hall is air-conditioned and has laundry facilities and in-room refrigerators. Single rooms are $55.10 per night, and double rooms are $37.10 per person per night. The Workshop site is in very close proximity to many casual, fast food, and fine dining restaurants. Housing payment is separate from the Workshop enrollment fee and is paid upon arrival. Online housing reservations may be made starting March 8, at http://www.housing.wisc.edu/confserv/index.php. Please note that dormitory housing is limited; reservations must be made by June 8. Detailed housing information will be mailed to all who enroll.
TransportationMadison is served by the Dane County Regional Airport and most major airlines. By car, Madison is approximately 70 minutes from Milwaukee's Mitchell International Airport and 2-1/2 hours from Chicago O'Hare International Airport. Frequent, reliable, safe, clean, air-conditioned bus service is provided from both airports directly to the UW-Madison campus near the Workshop site.
Festival Check-InCheck-in is from noon-2:00 PM on Saturday, July 12 in the lobby of the UW-Madison Mosse Humanities Building. It is suggested that participants check into the dormitory or hotel and park their vehicles in reserved parking areas before checking into the Workshop, as temporary parking is extremely limited around the Humanities Building.
InstrumentsParticipants are expected to bring their own instruments. A few historical reproductions may be available for rental. Information will be sent about available rental instruments and fees.
Academic Credit and Continuing Education UnitsParticipants may earn 1-2 graduate or undergraduate credits from UW-Madison at approximately $300 per credit (in addition to the Workshop enrollment fee). Please note that credit registration and fee payment are separate procedures from Workshop enrollment. Those desiring credit must complete UW's Guest Student application process as soon as possible. Please indicate your desire for credit on the Enrollment Form, and credit registration materials will be mailed to you. All participants not opting for academic credit receive 4.5 Continuing Education Units at no cost.
