Foreign language programs include:

• Madison Area Classes - Foreign language and culture classes are offered year round. Adult outreach programs include Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, and Spanish. Our language courses include language and conversation courses from beginner through advanced levels and reading knowledge classes and exams.
  
  
• Independent Learning - Courses in several foreign languages allow you to learn at your own pace and convenience, and in the comfort of your own home! Available for credit, noncredit continuing education units and for high school credit.
  
  
• Online Language Classes - Spanish and French classes taught online allow you the flexibility of learning from home at your own pace.
  
  
• Reading knowledge exams - Our department administers this exam for graduate students in the areas of French, German, and Spanish.
  
  
• Children's Classes - A variety of programs occur each semester for children aged 4 to 10 to study Spanish and Chinese. You will find current descriptions of all upcoming language classes for children in the UW-Madison Continuing Studies catalog.
  
  
• Foreign Language for Business - Currently available in Spanish, our Business Language Certificate Program is presented in cooperation with the Center for International Business Education and Research.
