Victoria Bein piccolomydog@yahoo.com"Fallen" - pastel "This piece is a part of a series I've been working on concerned with the conditions of various animals at or approaching their death. It is a memorial to a newly hatched bird who fell from her nest and died during a spring thunderstorm. I gathered the bird, bark, and catalpa tree blossoms together and created this composition as a resting place for the "fallen". I mostly work from photographs and spend a lot of time out with my camera searching for these opportunities. The process is a healing ritual that transforms suffering and loss into beauty through art."
