Osher Reentry Scholarship Program
for Undergraduate Students
The Osher Reentry Scholarship Program is designed to provide financial assistance to individuals who meet the minimum qualifications described below. The Bernard Osher Foundation seeks to recognize the commitment, efforts, and financial hardships of reentry working adults as they balance their family, work, and school responsibilities in order to achieve their educational goals.
This grant is not intended for graduate students or students seeking an additional degree. It is not intended for students who are exclusively enrolled in online courses or for international students who are visiting the United States with the intention of returning to their countries of origin after graduation.
Osher Reentry Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis to a limited number of undergraduate students who demonstrate the potential for academic success.Up to 10 Osher Reentry Scholars will be awarded up to $5,000 for the academic year.
Minimum Qualifications
A selection committee will review all applications, and evaluate the applicants based on the following criteria. Applicants must
- Have experienced a cumulative gap in education of five or more years
- Are at the undergraduate level and pursuing a first baccalaureate degree
- Anticipate workforce participation for a significant period of time subsequent to graduation and are ideally between the ages of 25-50
- Demonstrate financial need
- Show academic promise and a commitment to obtaining the degree
- Are either full- or part-time students
The Osher Reentry Scholarship assists with the cost of tuition, books, and other education-related costs. Successful applicants receive a tuition grant of up to $5,000; up to $2,500 disbursed the first semester and up to $2,500 disbursed the second semester, contingent upon maintenance of good academic standing.
Application deadline
The deadline for academic year 2008-2009 is March 1, 2008.
