Karen Y. Wells ScholarshipsSponsored by the Wendell Bryant FoundationThe Wendell Bryant Foundation, Inc. was established in March 2003. Wendell Bryant is a former University of Wisconsin All-American football player who currently plays in the NFL as a member of the Arizona Cardinals. The purpose of the foundation is to provide philanthropic support to nonprofit organizations providing community based support services that address the immediate need of at-risk urban and minority youth. The foundation is sponsoring five scholarships in the name of Wendell’s mother, Karen Wells. These scholarships will be awarded this spring to single parents, like Karen Wells, who embrace educational excellence and a commitment to continuing their education. This award provides $1000-$2000 in funding support per academic year for: Single parents enrolled in at least 9 undergraduate credits or 6 graduate (3 dissertator) credits each semester. Students must be enrolled for these minimum credit loads to receive scholarship funds. EligibilityThis application will enable you to be considered for The Karen Y. Wells Scholarships, if eligible. The selection committee may request an interview. Selection will be based on an academic transcript, the applicant's latest income tax statement, a detailed statement of goals and purpose and a letter of support. Your completed application should include:
Application deadline: April 15, 2004SelectionYour scholarship application will not be considered complete unless all of the above materials are submitted by the deadline. The Scholarship Committee will not review incomplete applications. Priority will be given to first-time scholarship applicants. In fairness to all single parent applicants, a change in marital status of an award recipient will affect an award decision. All applicants will be notified of a decision by May 15, 2004.
