Centro Hispano of Dane County Scholarship Awards, Scholarship Information


The mission of Centro Hispano's scholarships is to encourage and assist Hispanic youth in furthering their education and to recognize the achievements and community involvement of youth. Individuals and businesses within our community contribute to the scholarships.

We invite you to submit nominations for these scholarships and to announce the scholarship opportunity to interested students. If you have questions, call (608) 255-3018 .

Application deadline for nominations: May 15

The number of scholarships, and the amount of each change from year to year.

Scholarships are awarded in three categories

  • Middles School Students

  • High School Students

  • College and/or University Students

Scholarships awarded will be held in a trust fund for the recipient until their entrance into an institution of higher education.

To be eligible to apply for the scholarship, student must

  • Reside in Dane County (college students can attend school out of the county).

  • Be in good academic standing with a grade point average of 2.0 or above.

Candidates should have demonstrated community and school involvement and an interest in issues that affect the Latino community. Immediate family members of Centro Hispano or staff members are not eligible to apply. Students may win only once per category.

Any interested person may nominate a student by submitting a letter that includes

  • Nominator's name, telephone number and address

  • Nominee's name, address, telephone number and school

  • Reason for nomination
