Scholarships for
Degree-Seeking Nontraditional Students

The purpose of this fund is to increase the availability of scholarship funds for outstanding returning adult, single parent, and other adult students. Many adult students struggle to complete their studies while juggling family and employment obligations. They also struggle with limited eligibility for financial aid because of their part-time student status. Several scholarship funds are aimed specifically at the needs of our growing number of adult students. Please consider the following giving and naming opportunities.

You can contribute to an established endowment or create a new named scholarship fund.

Adult Student Scholarships

Several awards and scholarships are given each year to adult students, many of whom are returning to school after a significant interruption in their education. These funds are available for disadvantaged and academically outstanding undergraduate, graduate, and professional adults. Established funds include the

  • Bernice D. Kuney Scholarship
  • Alma Baron Second Chance for Women
  • Stuart Daily Seeds of Learning
  • Joe and Barbara Weston Corry Scholarship

Single Parent Student Scholarships

These scholarships are available to single parent students who have children younger than 18. Established funds include the

  • Single Parent Undergraduate Student Fund
  • Nancy Denney Scholarship Fund for Single Parents

Targeted Minority and Women
Nontraditional Student Scholarships

We aim to establish funds targeted especially to returning adult minority students, and for returning adult women in the sciences and engineering, where women have traditionally been under-represented.
