The Division has long provided
statewide leadership to bring the arts into people’s lives and improve
our quality of life. Your gift will ensure that UW-Madison continues to
serve as an innovative leader in arts development and continuing education.
Please consider the following giving or naming opportunities:
Arts Program Development
and Enhancement Fund
This fund will foster the development
of new arts courses for people of all ages. Our faculty are constantly
developing and revising current courses, whether it is a new online program
in dance, a travel-study seminar for theatre teachers to learn first-hand
from professional New York actors and directors, a musically illustrated
history of the big band, or a course on new world literature. Your donation
may also provide travel and development funds for UW-Madison arts faculty
to nurture school-based and community programs around the state in visual
arts, dance, music and drama. A recent example of such leadership was
the regional conference cosponsored by UW-Madison to foster economic development
in rural communities through arts development. Other examples include
the Wisconsin Regional Art Program, which since the 1940s has helped Wisconsin
citizens develop their abilities and create works of art through statewide
artist workshop/exhibits culminating in a major exhibit each year in Madison.
With this gift, you too can make sure the arts remain a vital part of
our lives.
Scholarships in the Arts Fund
Your generous support will
create scholarships for students of all ages. Each year thousands of people
attend hundreds of continuing-education arts courses offered by the Division.
In addition to hands-on courses in the visual arts, dance, music and drama,
offerings include the week-long Summer Music Clinic for middle- and high-school
students; the Wisconsin Early Music Festival of medieval, Renaissance
and Baroque music; the School of the Arts at Rhinelander which provides
hands-on programs to more than 300 adults in art and folk art, writing,
dance, movement and relaxation, music, photography and drama; the Summer
Drama Institute for teachers and theatre professionals; and Writer’s
Institute and Write-by-the-Lake for established and aspiring writers.
