Classes and Programs
You can choose from a wide variety of credit and noncredit learning classes and programs to meet your educational and professional goals. Below are noncredit and credit options at UW-Madison, as well as opportunities throughout the UW System and at area educational institutions. Credit classes at UW-Madison
To take UW-Madison credit classes in either degree or non-degree status, you must be admitted to the university, and then enroll. The Adult and Student Services Center admits students to take credit classes at UW-Madison. Students admitted by Adult and Student Services are known as “Specials” or “Guest auditors.” If you have not been admitted to the university, see Prospective students for more information about the process.
UW-Madison Timetable
The Timetable lists all courses offered for credit at UW-Madison by semester, including those offered in the evening, on weekends, and via distance technologies.
Capstone certificates
Capstone Certificate programs are intended to serve returning adult students who wish to acquire specialized training to meet current and future job requirements.

Noncredit continuing education courses at UW-Madison
Almost anyone can take a noncredit course at UW-Madison. You don't need to be admitted to the University to take noncredit courses. When you take a noncredit course you are not earning university-level credit toward degree program requirements. Most noncredit courses offer continuing education units (CEUs), and many will help with certification or professional licensing requirements.
Registration for noncredit courses is easy and fees are typically lower than for credit classes. Many noncredit courses offer similar content to credit programs so compare your options.

The catalog contains noncredit personal and professional development classes and workshops by subject area, offered through the Division of Continuing Studies and campus outreach schools and colleges.
