How to Apply to Winds of Wisconsin

Admission deadline: September, 2008

Teacher recommendations are required.

Music Teachers: We are looking for student recommendations from your school program for woodwind, brass and percussionists in grades 9-12. We rely on your recommendations for success in Winds of Wisconsin. Please e-mail (maaley@wisc.edu) or fax (608-265-0452) your recommendations to us by September 21 and include:

• Student name

• Instrument

• Grade in school

• Address and phone number

• E-mail address*

*Important: Because of the brief time between the deadline for nomination and the audition, we use e-mail to communicate with students so that we can immediately assign them an audition time.

The application process involves four steps:

1. Teacher recommends students for participation.

2. Student receives application from teacher or by mail from Winds of Wisconsin staff.

3. Winds of Wisconsin staff receive the student application by September 21.

4. Staff contacts the student by e-mail with an assigned audition time. Auditions take place in the Humanities Building on the UW-Madison campus on September 27. 

We will send information to the students based on your recommendation and will also provide flyers for you to distribute. Students will be notified on their status within a week of their audition. If they are accepted to be participants for the Winds of Wisconsin 2008-2009 season they will be expected to pay a tuition fee of $120.
