Schedule and Workshops

Sunday morning, March 29, 2009

8:00 am Coffee/tea
9:00-11:00 am

CONCURRENT SESSIONS (choose one)

H1 The writer’s voice, with Les Edgerton
The writers who succeed are those who develop a unique and distinctive voice—one that sets them apart from the faceless mob. Les Edgerton, the author of Finding Your Voice, will do just that in his workshop—help you to find your own individual voice with tools that will help you to find yours without years of struggle and... most importantly... dramatically improve your chances of getting noticed by agents and editors. His workshop will give you the information you'll need to give your work a unique signature style—one that labels you a writer to watch!

H2 Creating the transformational arc, with Linda Seger
Using a number of clips from the movie, “As Good As It Gets,” we’ll look at how the transformational arc is structured, and the elements that show the process of change and then prove a character’s transformation.

H3-H20 Private pitch meetings, 9:30-11:00 a.m.
If you have an agent meeting, please try to sit near the door of the classroom so that you may leave with the minimum of disruption to others. Thank you.

For novel/nonfiction writers. Each writer gets eight minutes. Please sign up for a time slot when you register (or at the event if slots remain open). Additional fee.

H3-H11 Private pitches with Bill Contardi

H12-H20 Private pitches with Victoria Skurnick

Adjourn at 11:00 am
