The Online Business Spanish Certificate Program

Understanding business relationships in Spain and Latin America

The Online Business Spanish Certificate Program offers a flexible learning opportunity for understanding business relationships in Latin America and Spain. This Spanish language course is focused on speaking Spanish specifically in a business context, as well as using appropriate Spanish business etiquette.

Learning how to conduct business in Hispanic countries can be very helpful to any student or professional interested in the Spanish language and in the various cultures of the Hispanic world. The possibility to take the course online further benefits people who need to follow their own learning needs due to distance or time constraints. Although students can work independently, they are closely supervised by the instructor. You work at your own pace and take up to a year to finish each course.

The Online Business Spanish Certificate Program has two parts: Basic and Advanced

The Basic Spanish Certificate Program is designed to present a complete basic review of the Spanish Language. In this level, you will work with common written documents used in business such as letters, résumés, memos, and business cards. We will also explore cultural issues and specific vocabularies. The course prerequisite is one year of Spanish or consent of the instructor.

The Advanced Spanish Certificate Program focuses on oral and written communications in Spanish business situations in the context of the Latino culture. You will learn about methods, customs documentations, financial practices, management and structures of Spanish corporations. The Basic Spanish Certificate Program is a prerequisite, or two years of Spanish, or the instructor’s consent.

The Business Spanish Certificate Program has two levels or classes: Basic and Advanced. Students need to finish successfully the Level 2 in order to receive the Certificate. It is possible for students to begin the program at Level 2 with the consent of the instructor.

Student comments about this instructor:

I just wanted to thank you for doing such a great job teaching the class. Your class was so useful for me.  I have taken three classes in the Spanish department and this class has been by far the best.  I would not have taken another class in the Spanish department because the only classes that I could have taken would have been literature classes.  Although they may have been helpful, I needed to take a class like this one because it focused on business.  Learning how to conduct business in Hispanic countries is going to be very helpful for me in the future.  I would recommend this class to anyone in the business school.
Thanks again,

Erica N. Shea

 Hola Antonio-
Gracias por un buen semester de clases. Me gusta mucho asistir su clase.
This class was a great non-stressful way to practice my Spanish after returning from studying abroad.  It also familiarized me with some of the many business customs of a wide variety of Spanish speaking countries.

I cannot believe the class is over already.  It has been so great being your student.  The class has enabled me to learn a lot and to continue improving my Spanish.  Thank you for giving me the opportunity to take part in the course.  I will bring what I have learned in this course upon entering into the business world.
Dana Perez

The Business Spanish program has been a great opportunity for me to learn the basics of a foreign language. I made a mistake when I did not take a foreign language in college, and this class gives me the opportunity to learn skills to conduct business worldwide.
