Department updates/discussion

UW searchable stories project (headed by Peyton Smith and Kristie Thorson)—this project involves an attempt to create a searchable inventory of outreach stories that do a better job of focusing and refining how UW-Madison affects the state.

There are more than 60 applicants for Pat Fessenden's job.

Update on Timetable: plans are to "kill" the Web version and give broader access to MyUW version by summer of 07.

A new half-time LTE media specialist, Bill Tischler, has been hired to assist Sarah Schutt with three classes: Russian history, landscapes of Midwest, and one other course. All three are expected to eventually be D2L online noncredit courses. In addition, the division has purchased a hi-definition video camera for the division.

We discussed moving the CASI minutes to a more accessible location, probably Shared.DCS.

We also discussed at what level do we (CASI) want to work within the division, and again thought about doing a survey.

Action items completed from September

The e-mail to DCS staff about professional development grants and CASI representatives was sent. Alan Ng volunteered and was unanimously approved to be a member of CASI.

A letter was drafted, reviewed and sent to Howard Martin and Patrick Farrell from the DCS CASI. Farrell indicated his agreement with academic staff representation on the search committee when he met with division personnel at the meeting September 25.

Meeting adjourned at 12:05 pm

Next Meeting 11:00 am Wednesday, November 1 at Lowell Center.
