CASI Minutes

May 2007

Present: Antonio, Alan, Katy, Martin, Christina

Director of Continuing Studies Search

The search closed May 1. Search and Screen committee continues to meet weekly in a room in Bascom. Alan has not yet gotten a response to his e-mail request to David Musolf, Sec'y of Faculty, for CASI to interview the final candidates. When he receives a response, CASI will invite other DCS staff to participate in drafting questions or attending any CASI sessions with final candidates. Although we discussed possible strategies, no action will be taken until we get a response to Alan's e-mail.

Sick Leave Reporting

Request for feedback on the ASEC-drafted sick leave policy netted two responses concerned with linking sick leave reporting to merit reviews. CASI will forward the concern to ASEC as noted in previous minutes.

Action item: Alan will forward collected feedback to Colleen McCabe on May 8.

Updates

LSA—Dolly Weber, PhD, from Univ. of Illinois-Chicago, has been hired as the new coordinator for all languages programming except Spanish. She will start August 1. This will enable Alan to again spend a larger percentage of time on his continuing education technology duties and less on coordinating German programs.

Senior Programs—Katy and Sarah Schutt attended a recent Osher conference and are reviewing ways to better integrate senior programming logistics among the division partners. Katy explained that the various registration and marketing options can confuse potential participants, as well as making data collection or retrieval more difficult.

Next Meeting: June 6, 11-noon at Lowell Center.
