CASI Minutes

May 2006

Present: Katy Duren, Christina Finet, Moira Kelley, Miranda McClenaghan, Antonio Noguera, and Martin Rouse.

  • Last meeting 4/5/06 minutes were approved.

    Departments Updates:

LSA – Miranda announced there wasn’t news on LSA personnel.

PIO – Christina reported that there is a new survey for Summer Sessions.

Update on University AS brown bag:
Moira informed that it was an interesting meeting. Some issues discussed at the meeting included the Web pages security, spreadsheet, communications, and the plan to invite CASI on August 11th.

CASI opportunity to identify academic staff for award/acknowledgment:
Moira asked about the role of CASI in nominating colleagues.
Christina reported that it is possible to have nominations from the Departments, and from individuals.
Katy suggested that it would be nice to help people fill the application forms. According to Katy, there are a total of 14 possible awards, 9 in Madison and 5 in the system. Most of the deadlines for these awards are in January.
Christina wanted to study the possibility of offering help from the Marketing personnel.

    Academic Staff Review Process:
According to Miranda, there are a couple of disturbing issues:
1 We have peer review groups, and the comments from these groups go directly to our files.
2 Anyone working at the University can put comments in your file.

It is important to know that these files are only significant when one employee wants to move to another University Department.
For the University regulations there must be only one file for each employee.
It is legal to request your supervisor to write annually a letter about your review.
After 6 years, you must review for title change.

With no more additional business meeting adjourned at 12:00 pm.

Next meeting: 11:00 am, June 7 at 1305 Linden Dr.
