March 2008
Present: Sarah Marty, Alan Ng, Christina Finet
Marv would like to come to a meeting, April may be possible. We will try to schedule a Wednesday morning when all CASI members can come (2nd or 9th were preferred by members present).
Proposed agenda for the meeting
- Explain CASI's role and offer our services
- Summarize new-employee orientation project (see below)
- Discuss division of labor within the division: every silo currently operates independently instead of a service model where a specialist is assigned to be available to entire dept/division. Specific example: grants coordinator, entire h.r. process. Consistently present existing functions/offices as open to all DCS "internal clients."
New-employee orientation project
- General divisional information, structure.
- Departmental information.
- Specific colleagues/supervisors. Annual review process.
- A designated tour guide for each orientation. Include dean's office.
- Orient the division regarding the new person—name, job title, basic responsibilities. CASI sends "meet X" e-mail (and photo?). Mention in DCS newsletter (MAC).
- Governance. Awards.
Tasks to cover in new employee orientation materials or discussion
- Mail management
- Marketing Web page creation/maintenance
- Computer support, shared server space
- Budget process, using cost-accounting system, instructional forms
- Outlook training
- Rough annual calendar of regular meetings (dept./review/CASI/award deadlines)
